In an off-grid solar system, your solar panels charge your deep-cycle batteries instead of powering your household loads directly. So in off-grid solar systems, it's the inverter's job to convert the DC power from your battery bank into AC power for your home's electrical loads.
In addition to converting DC to AC power, many off-grid inverters can also assist in charging your batteries from an AC source like a generator. An inverter with this feature is referred to as an off-grid inverter/charger.
For battery-based renewable energy systems, our pre-wired inverter systems save time and hassle by combining the inverter, charge controller, and other key components together - all pre-wired to NEC standards for a single turn-key installation.

How to select an off-grid inverter/charger
Schneider's Conext SW Inverter/Charger
These days, most off-grid inverters - and all grid tie inverters - have pure sine wave output. While a bit more expensive than models with modified sine (or "square wave" output), pure sine wave output is needed for 100% smooth operation of all of a modern home's electrical loads. There are still some applications where modified sine waveform output is acceptable, but for most battery-based solar power systems we recommened using an off-grid inverter with pure sine wave output.
