Solar Living Center 20th Anniversary Celebration

Free and open to the public! Come celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Solar Living Center with music, workshops, speakers, food, wine and beer, and fun!

Attend free workshops on topics like aquaponics, permaculture, electric vehicles, beekeeping, natural building and more - what better way to celebrate the SLC's 20 years of inspirational education? Or if you just want a day or two of fun and relaxation, come enjoy guest speakers and live music from Dgiin & Sol Horizon and Rising Signs & Reverb.

There's plenty to do for all ages, from the Kid Fun Zone to the grand opening of Emerald Pharms CBD dispensary right here at the SLC.

faircompanies.com founder and documentary filmmaker Kirsten Dirksen (We the Tiny House People) caught up with John Schaeffer 15 years after interviewing him in 2000, when he showed her the 1955 Porsche Spyder he had recently converted to run off solar electricity. Kirsten wanted to find out more about the man behind the wheel, so he gave her a tour of the Solar Living Center and his home in the hills above it. Kirsten found that the same principles of sustainability that John built his business on drive the rest of his life as well.

Local artist Lauren Szabo's original painting of one of the Solar Living Center's grow-through cars will be featured in the La Famiglia exhibition at the Arte Verissima Gallery in Oakland. The exhibition focuses on 12 celebrated local artists' work in the realist tradition, and we are proud to have inspired Lauren's beautiful work.
