HLX Series lithium-ion batteries are designed - and tested - to survive and thrive under the sometimes rigorous conditions off-grid or hybrid inverters and battery chargers can throw at deep cycle renewable energy storage batteries. (Note: for cold climates, the cold-rated version of this battery should be used.)
The HLX Series' lithium ferro phosphate (LiFePO4) cells are safe, maintenance-free, and highly efficient, and will last an impressive 2,000 cycles cycling to a full 100% depth of discharge (or 5,000 cycles when cycling to 80% DoD).
These 12V batteries can be combined in up to 4 parallel strings of 4 HLX batteries each for systems of 24V, 36V, or 48V.

The quality of the battery seems fine. But I do have a couple gripes which perhaps could be cured by more info or maybe tweaks to BMS.
You must dig deep into the owners manual to discover the battery can be damaged if inverter low voltage shutoff is not set below 12v. My quality 1800w inverter has a factory set low voltage cutoff of 10.5v as do the majority of smaller inverters currently in use. I couldnt find anything reputable with adjustable low voltage cutoff for under $750. Called Alt-e tech help. They said yep "probably damage" the $1,100 kilovault if I didn't replace inverter. This should be in the spec sheet or better, the marketing info. In the end my Kilovault battery cost me $1,950.
My other gripe relates to Kilovault battery "version". Nowhere on battery is there a serial number or version number which is hopefully just a manufacturing oversight.
More importantly, Kilovault is already up to version 3 in their short time on the market. Literature says if you install more than one battery, they must all be the same version. My battery has a reset button and a cat5 port neither of which are mentioned in manual. Tech rep said "ignore them" they are for "future" uses.
What does this mean if I want to increase my system capacity, which is likely. If I do in fact have a version 3, there is no assurance I will be able to find a version 3 at that time. I doubt they have a bunch of version 1s on the shelf waiting for upgrades for original buyers of version 1.
Hopefully Kilovault will work these things through without costing their customers.
