Multiple IronRidge XR Solar PV Mounting Rails can be combined to create longer rail spans when bonded together with the appropriately sized splice (XR10, XR100, or XR1000).
Like IronRidge's original Bonded Splices, the new and improved BOSS™ (Bonded Structural Splice) splices fit inside the XR Rails - providing a clean, seamless appearance without interfering with clamping or solar panel mounting locations.
Unlike the Bonded Splices, BOSS splices require no assembly, tools, or hardware (the built-in bonding spring's teeth bite into the inside of the XR rail, making a quick but secure connection that meets all UL standards) and can be placed anywhere along the XR Rail span except the outside cantilever.
When creating XR Rail lengths of 100 feet or more, use a Grounding Strap Expansion Joint (available separately on the "Accessories" tab) with each BOSS to prevent potential buckling of rails during thermal expansion.
