These intelligent deep-cycle battery charging algorithms help extend the life of your batteries and are especially valuable when you need to maintain batteries in storage for an extended period of time.</p> <p>Note: the IQ4 is not compatible with IOTA DLS chargers that feature internal IQ charge control.</p><br> <h3>IOTA IQ4 Smart Charge Controller Charging Stages</h3> <ul><li><strong>Bulk Stage</strong><br>Delivers maximum power charger can deliver, for fastest possible recharge time, up to about 14.8/29.6/59.2 volts (12, 24 or 48 volt battery banks). If this voltage is achieved, it will remain here for 15 minutes. If not, the DLS will deliver its maximum current for up to 3 hours 45 minutes at which point it will transition to Absorb.</li> <li><strong>Absorption Stage</strong><br>After the bulk stage, the IQ4 moves to the absorption stage at about 14.2/28.4/56.8V. This mode will continue for up to 8 hours to ensure that the battery receives a complete charge.</li> <li><strong>Float Stage</strong><br>During the float stage, the IQ4 reduces the DLS charge voltage further to 13.6/27.2/54.4 volts. This reduced voltage maintains the battery in full condition while minimizing off-gassing. This extends the life of batteries, avoiding bulging and plate degradation caused by being held at higher charging voltages for too long. </li><li><strong>Equalization Stage</strong><br>If the batteries remain in float stage for a 7-day period, the IQ4 will switch the DLS charger into equalization stage. At this point, the DLS brings the battery up to the Bulk voltage for a short time. This helps to dissolve the sulfate layer on the battery's plates. The strong bubbling that occurs at this elevated voltage tends to mix the electrolyte, so stratification doesn't compromise battery performance.     The IQ4 Smart Charge Controller plugs into the dual voltage jack of an IOTA DLS Battery Charger to provide intelligent automatic charging control by progressing through the four charging stages outlined below. These intelligent deep-cycle battery charging algorithms help extend the life of your batteries and are especially valuable when you need to maintain batteries in storage for an extended period of time.

    IOTA IQ4 Smart Charge Controller Charging Stages

    • Bulk Stage
      Delivers maximum power charger can deliver, for fastest possible recharge time, up to about 14.8/29.6/59.2 volts (12, 24 or 48 volt battery banks).
