This off-grid solar power system kit provides nearly everything you need to bring 3.66kW of off-grid solar power and battery storage to a home, cabin, or any other remote location. Choose your preferred battery type and solar panel mounting option, and you're on your way! Note that you can also integrate a wind turbine into this system, which complements the solar panels perfectly.
The heart of this system is a pre-wired Schneider Conext SW 4048 Inverter/Charger. It's a convenient combination of an inverter, multi-stage 48V battery bank charger, and transfer switch all in one. It's rated at 4kW and produces 120/240VAC output. Working in tandem with (and installed and pre-wired with) the Conext SW 4048 is a MidNite Solar Classic 150 MPPT Charge Controller - essential for both keeping your batteries from being overcharged and for optimizing your solar panels' performance.
See the "Accessories" tab to easily add the recommended accessories for the Conext SW 4048 Inverter/Charger, including the ComBox Communication Module, Battery Monitor, Automatic Generator Starter, and Remote On/Off Switch.
The answer starts with knowing how much power you need on a daily basis in kilowatt-hours (our load calculator can help with this; divide the number it gives you in Watt-hours by 1000 to get kilowatt-hours, or kWh).
Compare your daily kWh needs to the map here, which shows the amount of daily kWh this system's solar panels will produce if installed at an optimal tilt during the time of year when there's the least amount of sun. If your needs exceed the solar potential shown for your area on the map, check out our larger off-grid solar power system kits.
If this 3.66 kW Off-Grid Residential Solar Power System is appropriately sized for your needs, then it's time to consider which battery storage and solar panel mounting options you want to use with it. The tables below compare each of these options.
